Sadly, consider this your "unofficial" declaration that the 2026 season WILL NOT begin as originally scheduled on April 10th. Rhode Island DEM has published that they will not have an update regarding the campground/reservations until after May 1st.  B4B has been in steady communication with RI State Park and RI DEM representatives who have confirmed the delayed opening.  Campers should expect an "official press release from RI DEM outlets soon.

The initial construction planset called for a Phase 1/Phase 2, with each including three bathroom rebuilds and complete waste water system replacements. The three bath houses in Phase 2 were demolished before Phase 1 was completed. Progress got off schedule and was further complicated by severe winter weather.  Until there is an official update by RI State Parks, it is unknown whether the campground will remain closed until all six bathrooms are complete, or if there will be a 2026 season with partial occupancy in selected areas. If you are on Facebook, the best way to stay updated on a daily/weekly basis is to complete a join request to B4B's private Facebook group. 

There are normally 739 campsites available for reservation at Burlingame State Park Campground. This total includes cabin sites and the 21 walk-up sites not listed on the official campground map distributed or the Reserve America system map (Find them on the lower left of our map). There are 26 primitive cabins available on property (A-Z). What you should know regarding Burlingame State Campground campsites :

• Each campsite and cabin site includes a fire pit and picnic table. 
• Campsites have been established as "Back-in" or "Pull-through" on the RA website.  *NOTE* Pull-throughs have an additional fee; an unnecessary charge to incur since there are hundreds of much larger accessible sites available at regular fee (Ask in the FB group).
• A-B-C-M map legends are only suggestions. View B4B's 360° campsite videos for reference.
• Partly shaded, full shade, and/or full sun campsites are available.
• There are NO water, electric, or sewer hookups sites on property. 
• Cabins have two sets of bunk beds with springs/board for the base.  Mattresses and bedding are not provided. Air mattresses/bed pads are strongly recommended. Cabin size varies and twin mattresses do not fit on all bunks. Pool floats work well.  All cabins have a small, covered porch. 
• Water spigots and porta-johns are located in various locations within the campground. 
• Flush toilets and coin operated showers are located in six buildings on the property. *NOTE*  Bathroom renovations will be happening 2025-2027 seasons.
• Limited electrical outlets available in the bathrooms.  Unattended plug-ins prohibited.  No soap or hand towels are supplied.
• Dump/Fill-up stations are located in two areas on the property.
• Alcohol consumption is prohibited in RI State campgrounds.
